Liguria is a land made of mountains and hills sloping down at sea up with the arc shaped coastline.
Main mountains are Monte Saccarello ( 2200 m. ), Monte Ceppo ( 1627 m. ), Monte Grande (1418), Monte Penna (1735), Monte Maggiorasca (1803), Monte Gottero (1640), Monte Antola (1598) e Monte Beigua (1267).
The main ways to north passing through the mountains are Passo del Turchino, Passo dei Giovi, Passo Cento Croci e Passo del Bracco.
The coastline is 350 km. wide, from the estuary of Fiume Magra river up to Capo Mortola that separates Italy from France. The coast profile is shaped as an arc topping to north, this generating the Gulf of Genoa.
The main cities are Genoa (the capital of Liguria), Savona, Imperia and La Spezia. Other important cities are Sanremo, Ventimiglia, Chiavari and Rapallo but even Bordighera, Alassio, Albenga, Loano, Vado Ligure, Varazze, Recco, Camogli, Santa Margherita, Portofino, Sestri Levante, Cinque terre, Portovenere and Lerici are quite well known touristic places. The major cities of the interland are Cairo Montenotte, Rivarolo, Bolzaneto and Sarzana.
In the beginning almost all of these cities were crowded by fishermen then commercial ports and shipyards workers, finally tourism with all structures for it.
